Delve is actively seeking a talented, driven and passionate Director of Software Engineering to build our dynamic software team across our multiple studios. You will have the opportunity to deliver excellence in software engineering to our clients, while supporting our team in developing solutions for what the world needs today and tomorrow. Your focus will stretch across multiple industries within the medical device, consumer, and commercial product space. This is a hybrid position in any of our studio locations. (Boston, Madison, Philadelphia, or San Francisco)

Responsibilities
  • Expertly lead with a positive client-centric attitude and drive high quality software engineering on projects
  • Develop software, write technical documentation, and conduct code reviews
  • Lead and manage the frontend and backend development teams, fostering professional growth and ensuring the continuous improvement of technical skills and best practices
  • Advocate for software engineering best practices while serving as a day-to-day client contact for key multi-disciplinary projects
  • Align work, planning, and influence with company goals and objectives and provide input to inform business analysis and planning
  • Strategically plan and execute departmental initiatives aligned with company strategy
  • Maintain relationships with clients and pursue relationships with prospective clients
  • Evaluate and address hiring needs, making informed hiring decisions
  • Cultivate a network of proficient contractors who can seamlessly augment your team’s capabilities
  • Support sales and marketing efforts and contribute to broader company-related initiatives, strategies, and communication
  • Develop proposals for prospective clients, including structuring, planning, and estimating software work and synchronizing software plans with other design and engineering disciplines
  • Serve as a thought leader to the department, company, and our clients, promoting new ideas, methods, technologies, and solutions
Requirements
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Minimum of 2 years of consulting experience, demonstrating proficiency in technical solution delivery and client engagement
  • Proven track record of building and shipping high-quality, scalable software applications for multiple platforms (e.g. iOS/Swift, Android/Java/Kotlin, Web/React, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of CI/CD technologies, Git, and Atlassian tools
  • Proficiency in two or more of the following languages: Java, Python, React Native, Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript
  • Experience in one or more public cloud technology like AWS, Azure, etc
  • Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar related field

Preferred Experience
  • You have experience establishing and sustaining modern mobile and web development technologies, tools, and methodologies
  • You have experience employing software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices
  • You have a proven understanding of UX principles and UI design patterns and the ability to collaborate effectively with designers
  • You have experience or familiarity working at or with consultancies
  • You are committed to high standards of workmanship, are self-motivated, and can work independently with little oversight
  • You are an excellent communicator with exemplary writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills all needed for interaction with clients, participants, and internal teams
  • You have prior experience with IEC 62304, demonstrating proficiency in medical device software development and compliance with regulatory standards
  • You have experience developing software applications for ecosystems consisting of multiple hardware and software touchpoints.
