As a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op, you will work alongside engineers, designers, and researchers in a dynamic environment. You will develop new, innovative products. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for project teams, responsible for applying engineering principles, technical knowledge, experience and research to product development efforts.
  • Consider and champion a human centered design approach to product development efforts.
  • Support project teams in the creation and development of mechanical design solutions via 3D CAD modeling.
  • Provide system layouts / underlays to project teams that communicate and document constraints such as fixed component locations, packaging envelopes etc.
  • Build proof-of-principle models and other early evaluation methods to test conceptual approaches.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
    Completion of 2+ years undergraduate course work by the start of the internship
  • Comfortable working in SolidWorks for 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawings
  • Experience with machine shop tools and techniques for part fabrication and assembly
  • Knowledgeable about 3D printing and design for additive manufacturing
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D surfacing techniques
  • Familiarity with injection-molded plastic design
  • Experience in electromechanical design and prototyping (e.g. Arduinos, motors, sensors)
  • Comfortable working on multidisciplinary projects with other engineers, designers, or researchers
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, such as consulting
