Delve is seeking a Senior Director, Industrial Design to lead and evolve our Industrial Design practice across studios in Boston, Madison, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. 

This role is responsible for advancing the quality, impact, and strategic contribution of Industrial Design at Delve, ensuring it operates as a fully integrated part of our multidisciplinary innovation model. Working closely with leaders in engineering, research, strategy, and digital design, the Senior Director will help shape product experiences that are not only beautifully designed, but technically robust, commercially viable, and meaningful to users. The Senior Director will guide a distributed team of designers, set the creative direction for key programs, and strengthen how Industrial Design contributes to client growth and Delve’s broader market positioning. 

This role combines design leadership, team development, and strategic client engagement, ensuring it operates as a fully integrated part of our multidisciplinary innovation model, with strong alignment between front-end insight, product definition, and design execution. 


You Will Lead

  • The Industrial Design practice across Delve’s studios, including team development, design quality, and capability evolution
  • The creative direction and design leadership on select strategic programs
  • The continued development of tools, storytelling frameworks, and design methodologies that strengthen Delve’s design offering 
  • Collaboration with leaders across engineering, research, strategy, and UX to deliver integrated product innovation 
  • Oversight of Delve’s Strategy capability, ensuring strong connection between research, insight, and Industrial Design. 

Responsibilities

Practice Leadership 

  • Define and evolve the vision and direction of Industrial Design at Delve
  • Establish standards, methods, and tools that elevate the quality and impact of design across the firm
  • Identify opportunities to expand how Industrial Design contributes to Delve’s multidisciplinary offering 
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging tools, technologies, and design practices
  • Ensure strong integration between insight, product definition, and design to create clear and actionable innovation opportunities

Creative Leadership 

  • Provide design leadership and creative direction on key programs and strategic client engagements
  • Guide teams toward bold, differentiated design outcomes that strengthen Delve’s reputation
  • Ensure design work balances user insight, craft excellence, technical feasibility, regulatory considerations, and business impact

Team Leadership & Capability Development 

  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing Industrial Design team across studios
  • Support the professional growth of designers through coaching, feedback, and development planning
  • Recruit and develop top design talent while fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and creative ambition

Client & Market Impact 

  • Partner with business development and leadership teams to shape opportunities and win new work 
  • Serve as a senior client advisor on product vision, design strategy, and innovation
  • Help translate design excellence into clear commercial value for clients
  • Represent Delve externally through thought leadership and engagement with the broader design community

  • Continued elevation of design quality and creative ambition across Delve’s work 
  • Strong collaboration between Industrial Design and other disciplines 
  • Growth of the Industrial Design team and its leadership bench 
  • Clear demonstration of design’s role in winning work and delivering client impact 
  • Clear translation of insight into compelling product directions and design outcomes 

Required experience 

  • 15+ years of experience in Industrial Design within consultancy, innovation, or product development environments 
  • 8+ years leading design teams or practices 
  • Experience delivering design solutions for complex physical or connected products 
  • Demonstrated success working within multidisciplinary product development teams 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design or a related discipline.
